What surprise songs did Swift perform?
Swift performed ‘A Place In This World’ from her 2006 self-titled album.
“This is a song that I wrote when I was 13,” Swift told the crowd. “I’m sure I related to it when I wrote it, but I think I relate to it more now 20 years later.”
Next, the 33-year-old singer performed ‘Today Was A Fairytale’ from her 2010 ‘Valentine’s Day’ album.
What other surprise songs did Swift perform in Houston?
On night one in Houston, Swift sang ‘Wonderland’ from her 2014 album ‘1989′.
“I don’t know why, but I really wanted to play this one tonight. I haven’t played it in a long time” Swift said, introducing the song to an eruption of cheers from the crowd.
“I kind of based it off of – sort of a twisted ‘Alice in Wonderland’ kind of vibe.”
She then played ‘You’re Not Sorry’ from her 2008 album ‘Fearless’.
Houston honors Swift
To honor Swift’s arrival in Houston, city hall was filled with lavender lights as a nod to ‘Lavender Haze,’ a track on the singer’s 2022 ‘Midnights’ album.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo also declared that the stadium would be renamed to ‘NRG Stadium (Taylor’s Version)’ from April 21 to 23.
The announcement was made on Hidalgo’s Twitter a few days before Swift arrived.
“I know all too well that other areas have done huge things,” Hidalgo said. “They’ve lit up the town; they’ve renamed streets, they’ve even made you mayor for a day.
“But we’re going to do something even better. I know if I did any of that, folks would say that I am the man.
“With the name change, I know it’ll never go out of style,” she continued. “Plus, it’s not only the young that enjoy your music. I hope your stay is beyond your wildest dreams, and for everyone in Harris Country, let’s get ready for it!”
