DC Studios finally has a new Clark Kent and Lois Lane. According to a report in Variety, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will play the iconic duo in director James Gunn’s upcoming movie Superman: Legacy.
According to Gunn, this latest iteration of the Superman saga will mainly be an origin story set at the lead characters’ workplace, the fictional Daily Planet newspaper. Corenswet will play rookie reporter Kent, while Brosnahan is to take the role of Lane, Kent’s coworker.
“[The movie] focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” Peter Safran, the project’s producer, told reporters earlier in 2023. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”
As well as directing Superman: Legacy, Gunn is also behind the script for the movie. It is slated to be released in July 2025.
Who is David Corenswet, DC’s new Superman?
David Packard Corenswet was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 8 July 1993. After graduating in 2016 from the Juilliard School, the prestigious New York performing arts academy, he had small parts in several TV productions, notably receiving praise for his role in the series House of Cards in 2018.
A year later, Corenswet had a starring role in the The Politician, earning plaudits for his performance in the comedy-drama show. In 2020, he appeared in the series Hollywood, in which he played a sex worker and aspiring actor in the 1940s.
The 29-year-old recently starred in the independent slasher movie Pearl. He also wrote, directed and featured in the comedy Moe & Jerryweather. His forthcoming projects include Apple’s The Lady in the Lake, in which he will be appearing alongside Natalie Portman.
Who is Rachel Brosnahan, the new Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy?
Rachel Elizabeth Brosnahan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 12 July 1990. She is best known as Miriam Maisel in the series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, a lead role for which she won back-to-back Golden Globes in 2018 and 2019. Brosnahan also picked up an Emmy for Mrs Maisel in 2018.
Brosnahan made her name in House of Cards, appearing on the show between 2013 and 2015. Recently, the 32-year-old starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in The Courier, and with Christoph Waltz and Willem Dafoe in Dead For a Dollar.
