Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had long expressed a crush on singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. He even talked about how he failed when he tried to give her his number during one of the stops on her Eras concert tour.

Speaking on his podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, which he co-hosts with his brother, he voiced his disappointment at being unable to talk to Swift before or after the show or give her his number through a personalized bracelet he made for her.

Swift-Kelce sightings

After his initial failure to connect with the musician, the two were seen in public together. They were all over the news because of speculation that they were dating, and finally, after a while, they made their relationship public.

Swift has been spotted cheering on the Super Bowl winner from the stands, and Kelce has given credit where credit is due- the people who issued a public plea to the singer to go out with him.

Andrews and Thompson urge Swift to date Kelce

Fox Sports commentators Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson issued the first call to Swift in August during their Calm Down with Erin and Charissa podcast.

“Taylor, I don’t know what you’re doing in your life right now besides rocking the world,” said Andrews.

“Please, try our friend Travis. He is fantastic. I know we’re not the best of friends, we’re not even friends, but I consider you one. Take us up on this. Go on a date with this guy.”

Thompson chimed in, saying, “Do it for yourself, do it for us, and do it for the people. Because no one would give you a better time than this guy.”

After such an endorsement, and because the plea seemed to have gotten results, Kelce publicly thanked the tandem.

“You two are something else!!” he commented on the commentators’ post. “I owe you big time!!
