Update:

Troubled comedian Andy Dick sparked concern among fans on Tuesday after he was found unresponsive on a street in Hollywood in broad daylight, with passers-by rushing to his aid over fears he had suffered an overdose.

According to reports, several of the 59-year-old’s friends were called in an attempt to revive him. TMZ claims Dick was administered a shot of Narcan, a life-saving medication that reverses the effects of opioid overdoses.

The same outlet, which obtained disturbing pictures of the comedian after he was found, said they have since spoken to Dick, who reassured them he was “okay” but did not elaborate on the incident. The Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department both received overdose calls, although it is believed Dick was not taken to a hospital.

Career highlights and early success

Dick began his comedy career as a cast member on the sketch comedy series “The Ben Stiller Show,” his first regular TV role in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, he starred in two MTV shows, “The Andy Dick Show” and “The Assistant,” neither of which enjoyed lasting success.

The South Carolina native later appeared in movies including “Zoolander,” “Dude, Where’s My Car” and “Employee of the Month.”

Andy Dick’s personal struggles over the years

Dick has had a number of personal struggles throughout his life. In 2012, he revealed he had been to rehab more than 10 times while battling drug and alcohol addiction.

In 1999, he was arrested after being found in possession of cocaine and marijuana following a car crash into a pole. Nine years later, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug charges.

His most recent legal troubles came in 2022, when he was jailed for 90 days for groping an Uber driver, an offense that also required him to register as a sex offender. That same year, he was reportedly arrested for stealing power tools from a property in Santa Barbara.
