Who is Rebel Wilson engaged to? All about her fiancée Ramona Agruma
Australian actress Wilson has made some big changes in her life since appearing in ‘Bridesmaids’ and the ‘Pitch Perfect’ film series.
Rebel Wilson has been on quite the rollercoaster ride since she first appeared on our screens almost two decades ago.
“More attention for weight loss” than successful acting career
After starting out her acting career in his native Australia, the 44-year-old moved to the United States in 2010 in an attempt to break Hollywood, which she first achieved with roles in comedy films Bridesmaids and A Few Best Men in 2011.
And it’s a genre that has served her well ever since, with her part in the Pitch Perfect musical comedy film series earning her wider recognition, and leading to her first true lead roles in Isn’t It Romantic and The Hustle in 2019.
But despite a hugely successful career on-screen, Wilson herself told People she had “got more attention for weight loss than any movie I’d ever done.” After previously explaining to the Sunday Times she was contractually obliged to stay overweight to play “the fat, funny character” in the Pitch Perfect movies, she lost 77 pounds in 2020 through diet and exercise.
Wilson goes public with fashion brand owner Agruma
That’s not the only big change she’s made in her life. Having previously dated Jacob Busch, a member of the Anheuser-Busch brewing family, she publicly came out on Instagram in June 2022, revealing she was in a relationship with fashion brand owner Ramona Agruma.
40-year-old Agruma is the founder and designer of sustainable clothing company Lemon Ve Lemon, which is based in Los Angeles, and also runs luxury jewellery company DeLys.
Before their relationship was made public, Wilson had revealed, also to People, that she had met “her new partner” via a friend and they had spoken on the phone for a number of weeks before meeting in person, something she described as “old school” and “very romantic”.
Wilson and Agruma’s Disneyland engagement
Things have moved relatively quickly since they first got together in January 2022, with the pair announcing they had got engaged at Disneyland on Instagram in February the following year.
By then, Wilson had welcomed her first child, Royce Lillian, to the world, via surrogate, who Agruma is helping to raise.
Wilson’s memoir, Rebel Rising, came out on Tuesday 2 April. In it, the Australian touches upon a number of personal and sensitive issues, including her weight gain and loss, in addition to her sexuality.
