Why does Snoop Dogg want to buy an NHL team?

The hip hop artist and businessman plans to make a $1 billion bid for the Ottawa Senators.

Update:
The hip hop artist and businessman plans to make a $1 billion bid for the Ottawa Senators.

Snoop Dogg is looking at his next business opportunity — to scoop up the Ottawa Senators — and although it may seem unlikely that the notorious rapper, actor, and businessman would want to buy an NHL team, he actually has a long history of being involved with the NHL.

The Sens are for sale at an expected bid of at least $1 billion. The deadline is May 15.

Snoop can’t get enough of the sport

Snoop Dogg has always loved hockey and has long expressed his interest in the sport.

The entertainer’s smooth, laid back voice is put to use in an unexpected way in EA Sports’ NHL 20 video game, which simulates real-life players and teams facing off against each other.

Though this specific bid is for the Ottawa Senators, Snoop is infamous for being an LA Kings fan.

He often makes appearances at games, and has even dropped the ceremonial puck and joined the hosts in the box to commentate on the game.

In fact, there have been several occasions when Snoop Dogg has commandeered the microphone at Kings’ games, as he likes to get in there and chime in his two cents when he can.

In a video posted by the LA Kings, Snoop Dog can be heard touting LA Kings player (and former Maple Leaf) Dion Phaneuf.

Move Dion, get out the way!” Snoop Dogg calls out during the game.

“Move Dion, get out the way!” - @SnoopDogg,” the LA Kings wrote in the caption. “We’re still living for these Snoop Dogg quotes from Saturday’s Hockey Night in LA broadcast.”

Snoop Dogg bids on the Sens

Snoop Dogg posted to his Instagram stories to announce his bid to buy the Ottawa Senators.

“Amazing what [Neko Sparks] is trying to do in Ottawa,” the rapper wrote in the caption.

“I’m looking forward to being apart of that ownership team,” he continued before blasting out, “I WANNA BRING HOCKEY BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY.”

Snoop then confirmed the desire for acquisition by posting a photo of himself wearing a classic black-and-orange NHL jersey.

Boss moves,” Snoop wrote in the caption.
