Why is a Philadelphia radio station taking Taylor Swift songs off their playlist?
Philadelphia based Q102 announced a temporary ban on Taylor Swift’s music on the airwaves ahead of the Eagles-Chiefs NFL clash.
Next Monday night, the Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) travel to Kansas City (7-2) in a repeat of the 2023 Super Bowl final. The emotional scars from the game in Phoenix when the Chiefs sealed a late win still run deep in the City of Brotherly Love and local radio network and Eagles fans Q102 are taking matters into their own hands.
The network’s Bex and Buster stated on Fox TV that the radio station ‘loves Taylor Swift and the whole Travis and Taylor thing, but this weekend we have to focus and we’ve been forced to punt Taylor Swift from our playlist. No Taylor Swift will be heard all weekend on Q102′.
The Taylor ‘blackout’ begins at 5pm (ET) on Friday evening and will be preceded by a ‘ceremonial last Taylor Swift song’ with the blackout expected to be lifted on Tuesday morning with the NFL game being staged at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night.
No Taylor for Eagles clash
It’s highly unlikely that Taylor will be in attendance for the Monday Night Football Chiefs-Eagles game given that she finishes a trio of shows at the Estadio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro which winds up on Sunday night (19 November). The global star then commences a trio of concerts at Sâo Paulo’s Allianz Parque before taking a well-earned break before the next leg of the Eras Tour restarts in Japan next February.
