Kourtney Kardashian and her husband Travis Barker finally revealed the reason they had a courthouse wedding in the time leading up to their luxurious wedding in Italy, and shortly after their Elvis impersonator wedding in Las Vegas (which the couple considers their practice run).

On their Hulu special ‘Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis’, Kardashian explained that her grandmother, Mary Jo Campbell, and Barker’s father, Randy Barker, were both unable to fly to Italy.

The couple decided the best thing to do was to bring their wedding to them in Santa Barbara, California, making sure they could still participate in the festivities.

Kardashian’s meaningful small wedding

“My grandma and your dad being there as the only people there because they couldn’t fly to Italy,” Kardashian said on the couple’s special.

“That was as traditional as everybody else’s wedding could’ve been. Everything, the car, convertible Cadillac, cans on the car, Santa Barbara was special,” Barker added.

The pair became legally married on May 15. Kardashian shared photos of the day on her Instagram account.

The couple’s two other weddings

A week later, the couple flew to Portofino, Italy with the rest of their friends and family, for a luxurious wedding at Dolce & Gabbana’s L’Ulivetta villa. The wedding included Kardashian’s three children with ex Scott Disick, Mason, Penelope, and Reign.

Travis’ step-daughter with Melissa Kennedy, Atiana de la Hoya was in attendance, including his children with Shanna Moakler, Landon, and Alabama.

The wedding was planned in 30 minutes, according to Kardashian.

“I remember calling Melissa Kolker and planning in 30 minutes and then calling you and talking to you about it,” Kardashian said to her husband. “We were like, ‘Yeah, perfect.’”

“We just wanted to get married, we didn’t really care about the details,” Barker said in the Hulu special.

As for the couple’s first “practice run” wedding in Las Vegas, Kardashian shared that the couple headed out to the chapel at 2 a.m., were somewhat intoxicated, and got married, although no marriage license was given. No friends or family were in attendance.

At the wedding, the Elvis impersonator accidentally called her Khloé, her sister’s name.

“Can you believe we got married three times?” Kardashian asked her husband, who answered: “It’s like choosing a child. I can’t pick the best one!”
