Gerard Piqué, beware: it appears that pop star Shakira may not be done releasing diss tracks about her former partner.

Shakira to bring out new track next week

Speaking after she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday, the Colombian - whose 11-year relationship with Piqué ended in June last year - revealed that she is to put out a new single, entitled “El Jefe” (“The Boss”), on Wednesday 20 September.

Title “El Jefe” a reference to Piqué's pals?

The track’s title has sparked speculation that the 46-year-old’s lyrics could again take aim at Piqué.

Why? Because friends of the retired soccer player are said to have referred to Shakira as ‘the Boss’ during the pair’s relationship - a moniker apparently motivated by claims that she was not only reluctant to socialise with them herself, but also kept tight control over Piqué's availability to spend time with them.

Piqué's pals are also reported to have referred to Shakira as ‘La Patrona’ (‘The Chief’).

I’m not the boss in this song - wait and see,” the three-time Grammy Award winner told an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the MTV VMAs. “I can’t give you any more details, sorry!”

While nothing about the song “El Jefe” has been confirmed except for the title, it is being rumoured that it will be a collaboration with the well-known Mexican artist Peso Pluma.

Shakira fires shots at Piqué with post-separation collabs

Since her break-up with Piqué, Shakira has enjoyed chart success with revenge tracks recorded alongside other artists.

Most notably, she and Argentinian artist Bizarrap had a runaway hit with January’s “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53″, a song whose lyrics landed a number of memorable jabs at Piqué and his new partner, Clara Chía.

“BZRP Music Sessions” broke 14 Guinness World Records, including being the fastest Latin track to reach 100 million views on YouTube.

In February, Shakira then collaborated with fellow Colombian Karol G on the girl-power anthem “TDG”, which contained further digs at Piqué. “TDG” also gained Guinness World Records recognition, its debut position of No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 proving the highest ever for a Spanish-language track.
