Zendaya is loving every moment of her relationship with boyfriend Tom Holland, but there’s one last thing she can’t quite understand — his South London slang.

The couple met on the set of 2017′s Marvel ‘Spider-Man’ sequel, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, where they played Spider-Man and his love interest, Mary Jane, and have dated ever since.

What is it about the South London slang?

All these years later, Zendaya is still trying to figure out Holland’s South London slang, even after the ‘Euphoria’ actress spent time in Holland’s hometown and with his family.

Zendaya told the Sun Newspaper on Sunday that she loves the accent, but just doesn’t get rhyming slang.

“I love the British accent, but as much as Tom tries to explain it to me, I will never understand rhyming slang,” the actress said. “Like I understand the concept — but what do apples and pears have to do with stairs?

“It’s cute when he tells me all the different phrases — but I really don’t get it!”

Zendaya living in the UK

The 26-year-old and her beau have recently purchased a multi-million dollar home in Richmond in 2022, which is close to the UK city of Kingston, near the Thames river.

Since living with Holland in their six-bedroom mansion in England, Zendaya commented on their progress as a couple — and Holland’s skills in the kitchen.

“He is really good in the kitchen,” Zendaya said, “which is fortunate as I am really accident-prone.”

“We learnt early on that only one of us could be in the kitchen at a time, we are both control freaks so we can’t be in there together.”

What happened on the ‘Spider-Man’ set?

When the pair met on the set of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, they started out as just friends. At the time, Holland said he relied on Zendaya’s guidance navigating his burgeoning fame.

The actor told People Magazine that they were best friends.

“We are like the best of friends,” Holland said about Zendaya. “She’s so great and amazing.

“I’m a little worried [about dealing with fame],” he continued, “but Zendaya is super-famous and she’s been through this, so I just call her up and say, ‘How do I manage being famous?’

“I’m very glad I have a friend like her.”
