40 million dollars separates you from living in the exclusive mansion of a Hollywood and music star and breaking the record in the area paid by Elon Musk
Musk sold his Hillsborough estate for a reported $32 million in 2021, a figure which is expected to be surpassed.

Ever dreamed of living in a French chateau-style mansion in California? Now could be your chance as one has recently gone in the market. The only thing is you’ll have to part with somewhere in the region of $40 million to make it yours.
Death of actress prompts big-money house sale
Built in the 1920s, the 11-bedroom mansion in Hillsborough, 17 miles south of San Francisco, is up for sale following the death of actress Kathryn Grant, the second wife of iconic singer Bing Crosby, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Crosby and Grant bought the property shortly after starting a family in the late 1950s, moving out of the city in an effort to keep their three children out of the Hollywood spotlight.
The Hillsborough estate, which spans more than five acres, has been in the family ever since, with Grant continuing to live there following Crosby’s death from a heart attack in 1977. Grant herself died of natural causes at the age of 90 on September 20 last year.
According to listing agent Jennifer Gilson of Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty, a $40 million sale would be a record for Hillsborough, eclipsing the $32 million Elon Musk received for his estate in the affluent area in 2021.

Inside Bing Crosby’s Hillsborough mansion
Frescoes, ornate fireplaces and hand-carved woodwork are among the stand-out features of the 14,000-square-foot property, which contains a smoking room with built-in bar, a library with a large fireplace and built-in bookcase, and dining room with a Venetian-glass chandelier and hand-painted rose detailing on the wall. There is also staff housing in separate wing.
Among the changes Crosby and Grant made to the property were the filling in of the swimming pool, a safety measure for their children. They also added a large, 17th-century wooden staircase banister and antique wood paneling.
According to Harry Crosby, the couple’s oldest child, the decision to sell the mansion was “inevitable” following his mother’s death, with he and his siblings spread across the United States. “It’s difficult to turn the page emotionally, but all good things come to an end”.
$40 million. That’s all you need to start your own story in the former home of a cultural icon.
