What really happens when we die?

For Ramón Campayo, the answer is crystal clear—and he says he’s seen it for himself.

Campayo isn’t just anyone making bold claims. With an IQ of 194 and a world record-breaking memory, he’s earned the title of the fastest memorizer in history. Now, he’s turning heads again after revealing in a recent episode of the ZZEN Talks podcast that he’s “100% convinced” he knows what happens after we die.

His certainty doesn’t come from religious texts or philosophical debates. It comes from years of lucid dreaming—dreams so vivid and controlled that he says he’s been able to explore death itself while asleep.

“I’ve died many times in my dreams”

Campayo described his ability to control his dreams with striking detail.

“If I want to dream I’m at the bottom of the ocean, I go there,” he said. “The dream restarts as many times as I want, or I wake up and dive back into it from the beginning or wherever I left off.”

But his most haunting dream wasn’t one of adventure—it was of dying.

In one lucid dream, Campayo says he was flying through a castle when he crashed violently and “died” inside the dream. Despite the common belief that people can’t actually die in dreams, he insists he did—and has many times.

In one particularly vivid moment, he claims he witnessed his own death following a dream tsunami.

“I saw my body floating. I was watching it from outside. That’s exactly how it happens in real life when you die,” Campayo stated with total conviction. “You see yourself from the outside. It’s still you—but you already know you’re no longer there.”

Your beliefs could shape your afterlife

What comes next, according to Campayo, is shaped by your own mind.

“From that moment on, you keep creating whatever you want,” he said. “If you die thinking you’re going to hell because you’ve been a bad person, then that’s where you’ll go.”

In other words, your mental state at the moment of death could determine the reality you experience afterward.
