American woman ends up in a hospital in Spain and is shocked by healthcare expenses: “It’s cheaper than an Uber ride in LA”
The woman recorded her reaction when she discovered how much she had to pay for the medical expenses of her father, who was visiting Spain.
A woman moved to Spain a few months ago and has been sharing on her TikTok profile how she is experiencing this change and the things that are surprising her the most. Before, she lived in California, and decided to embark on a new life adventure with her husband and two children. Since her arrival in Spain, Ana Ochoa has been recording the most spectacular places in the country, as well as the food and music that her family loved so much.
The price difference in healthcare is very noticeable
In one of her videos, she showed the dental clinic where she works, as well as explaining the prices of the services she offered, in line with the prices that Spanish dentists had. The video quickly went viral and was filled with comments from American people pointing out that they needed to come to Spain to have some dental treatment, since the price difference with the US was very significant. Now, another of her video’s has gone viral, in which she is totally amazed by the prices of healthcare in Spain.
Her parents came to visit to see the new home of their daughter and her family and to be able to see what the new country where they lived was like, however unfortunately her father suffered a fall down the stairs and they had to call an ambulance.
How much money did they have to pay?
The man had fractured his humerus, so they had to call an ambulance. When the health authorities arrived, they took them to the hospital to have an x-ray done, with the intention of assessing the damage in detail, and they gave him the appropriate medication to alleviate the pain.
For her part, Ana, in addition to worrying about her father’s health, was also worried about the expense that everything would entail, since in the US, the price can be very high if you don’t have insurance.
“So, we get the bill... Guess how much it is. Guess how much an ambulance, and hospital, and X-Ray... He has no insurance. He’s not from Spain, he’s visiting, he doesn’t live here.”, Ana started to explain. “185 euros (194 dollars) for everything, with no insurance”.
