Application period to claim monthly checks of $500 begins in California: How to request the payment
The application period for monthly $500 checks in the city of Pomona, California has begun. Here’s what you should know to request the payments.
Some residents of the City of Pomona, California, can now apply for monthly checks of $500 from the City of Pomona Universal Home Grant Pilot Program.
A total of 600 applicants will be randomly selected to receive $500 per month for 18 months or $20 stipend payments for the same period. Of the 600 applicants, 250 will be chosen to receive the $500 and be part of the paid group. On the other hand, 350 participants will be selected to participate in the control group and receive the $20 payments.
All program participants will also be invited to participate in surveys provided by the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). For each survey completed they will receive a bonus payment of $50. Here’s a look at who is eligible.

Application and selection process for participants
The application period began on June 17 and will end on July 8 at 11:00 p.m. PT. Pomona residents will be able to submit their application and documents through the FORWARD web portal.
The drawing to choose the 600 applicants will take place on July 10, 2024. Applications will be reviewed between July 10 and August 1. If necessary, applicants will have the opportunity to update their documentation during this time.
Applicants will be notified on August 12, 2024 if they have been selected for the program and will be informed which group they have been assigned to, whether the $500 or $20 payment group. The first payments are scheduled to be sent via a reloadable debit card by August 26, 2024.
