Update:

It was during the 1990s that Demi Moore broke through Hollywood’s glass ceiling. The actress and model, who had already caught the industry’s attention with her recurring role on General Hospital, made a grand entrance in 1990 with her lead role in Ghost. And since then, she has remained at the top of the movie world.

Much has changed since then, but the actress’s smile still captivates the industry; and her artistic talent, as seen in The Substance last year, remains intact—if not even more refined. Some wonder whether Moore has actually aged or if she’s made a deal with some dark entity. The truth is, she hasn’t stopped time—she’s 62 years old—but she has two secrets: her diet and her routine.

Daily exercise

As the actress has revealed on several occasions, her second postpartum was a turning point in her life. From that moment on, she began exercising rigorously: getting up at night with a trainer and cycling into the unknown with a flashlight. Gradually, she incorporated a more balanced and compatible routine into her daily life, fitting around both her work and leisure.

She stopped her fitness routine for several years, but when she resumed it in 2019, she embraced yoga and pilates, which she often shares on her social media. She does it to maintain her flexibility and, she says, to care for her mental health and reduce stress. In addition, she hikes to reconnect with nature, and she includes bodyweight exercises like lunges, planks, and squats. She’s also taken a liking to cardio through dance routines and zumba classes.

Raw vegan diet

She balances all this with a disciplined, healthy diet: Moore mainly consumes whole or raw foods, such as vegetables, fruits, and legumes, and avoids processed foods, soft drinks, sugary beverages, and ultra-processed meats. This lifestyle has led her to describe herself as a “raw vegan.”“For breakfast, half a cup of oats with water. The rest of the day, only protein and some vegetables,” she writes in her autobiography, noting other staples like cucumber, onion, pumpkin soup, and nuts.

Beyond this diet—which excludes red meat and raw fish—the actress emphasizes in her book the importance of not smoking and having quit alcohol. Aging gracefully isn’t easy.
