On Wednesday night, December 6, the fourth and final GOP debate of the year will take place live from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Unlike the first debate, where eight candidates competed for the Republican Party nomination, only four candidates have met the necessary requirements to participate in this Wednesday’s debate. According to the Republican National Committee (RNC), the four confirmed candidates are Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida; Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey; Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina; and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.

As was the case in the previous debates, former President Trump will not be appearing on stage. The Trump campaign has made their opposition to the debates clear, citing the president’s support from the Republican base. As of December 5, 2023, Trump has a 59.8% approval rating among Republican voters, according to data from FiveThirtyEight. The other candidates are not even close, with none of them achieving more than 15% support. The closest contender is DeSantis, with only 13.0% support.

What time does the event start?

The fourth Republican debate will last two hours, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET. The meeting will be moderated by three women: Megyn Kelly, former host of Fox News and NBC; Elizabeth Vargas, host of NewsNation; and Eliana Johnson , editor-in-chief of The Washington Free Beacon.
