There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal without the financial strain, in theory but not practice.

As Thanksgiving approaches, the excitement of gathering with family and friends is accompanied by the anticipation of a delicious turkey feast.

Several grocery chains are offering free turkeys with qualifying purchases, though the values of said purchases are so high you may as well just buy a turkey outright. The average price this year is around $30, meaning you need to spend at least ten times more at these places to qualify for a free one.
