He designs a small homemade drone in the garage with his father, tests it out, and gets a call from the Guinness World Records
A Dubai-based engineer this year claimed a world speed record with the Peregreen 3, a drone he has developed alongside his father.

Luke Maximo Bell is an engineer based in Dubai who spends his free time immersed in robotics and other tech projects. His crown jewel? The Peregreen 3 - a small drone he’s been designing, building, and testing for quite some time alongside his father, Mike. This creation stunned the world by earned Luke a Guinness World Record earlier this year, when it achieved the “fastest ground speed by a battery-powered remote-controlled (RC) quadcopter”.
How fast is the Peregreen 3?
What makes this achievement remarkable is that the previous record, set in Switzerland, had stood unchallenged for over a year. Luke’s Peregreen 3 shattered that mark by reaching an astonishing top speed of 360.4 mph (580 km/h). To put that into perspective, the fastest production car - the Yangwang U9 Xtreme - tops out at 496.2 km/h.
One fascinating detail: the drone is controlled using custom software developed by Luke himself. Given the extreme speeds involved, his father plays a critical role during testing, monitoring real-time data such as temperature, voltage, and other parameters to prevent any structural failures in the Peregreen 3.
