Here’s the McDonald’s “miracle menu” that some swear eliminates migraines: here’s what the experts say
Migraine sufferers have found a simple hack to calm their raging headaches at the Golden Arches with two menu items. But is it luck or the real deal?

Suffering from chronic migraines and looking for some way to stop them in their tracks? Well, across social media some migraine sufferers have been sharing a simple hack that calms the terrible headaches that’s been dubbed the ‘McMigraine meal’.
The ‘miracle meal’ for most involves just two McDonald’s menu items, a Coca-Cola and French fries. But is there any science behind why this combo works? Surprisingly, yes. But be aware that it might not work for everyone.
What experts say about the McMigraine meal
So what is it about the Coca-Cola and French fries that helps with migraines for some people? The caffeine and salt say doctors.
“We know the caffeine can help migraines in the short-term therapy of them,” said David Walker, MD, a headache and facial pain specialist at Rush University Medical Center, speaking to Verywell. “So, it isn’t too surprising that the caffeine in Coca-Cola itself is helpful.”
On the other hand, the salty McDonald’s French fries are a source of electrolytes helping to rebalance the levels in the body of a person suffering a migraine. Additionally, the carbs in the fries may help ease migraine symptoms for those who’ve missed a meal.
While this hack works for some migraine sufferers, Walker notes that the combination in the McMigraine meal also contains triggers for the throbbing headaches for other migraine sufferers.
“It’s great that this helps certain individuals,” said Walker, but added, “I don’t think it should be generalized because on the flip side of things, fried foods can trigger migraines.”
