Aegon the Evil !
The episode paid no kindness to the character of King Aegon II.
He is tracked to a local fighting pit where children are forced to fight one another, sometimes to the death. This in addition to the rape of a servant girl paint him as an evil usuper.
We also see that some of the children Aegon has fathered out of wedlock are forced to fight, adding an additional layer to his unending cruelty.
Also! What was up with the foot fetish scene? That is how you want to be repaid Lord Larys Strong... leave Aicent alone!
All about the Hightowers this week
Many missed the other side of the family during this high-stress episode... Next week we will see more from Princess Rhaenyra, Prince Daemon, and their children.
This week was all about the Hightowers.
One of the largest takeaways was just how long Otto Hightower had been planning to usurp the throne and how he manipulated his daughter at every turn to get it.
Now, the father and daughter face off over how the princess' unwillingness to bend the knee will be met.. will she have to be killed? Or is there some compromise to be made?
What happened in episode 9 of House of the Dragon?
The search for prince Aegon is on!
The episode begins with the meeting of the small council, and it is uncovered that Otto Hightower and his political allies have been planning on how to install Price Aegon. The issue is... no one can seem to find him.
During this episode, we see that Queen Alicent is upset about the planning that took place behind her back - she thinks the King wanted her son to succeed him, but she also knows the love he had for his daughter. Against the wishes of her father, Queen Alicent sends terms of surrender to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen at Dragon Stone.
Guess who really wants the throne? Prince Aemond, confesses his desire to see himself rule Ser Creston Cole. This becomes extremely uncomfortable because he seems like a power-crazed villain when speaking about his dream.
Next week we will return to the Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen as she was missed during this weeks episode.
We meet Rhaenyra when she is receiving the news of her fathers passing and the happenings in Kings Landing from the Princess Rhaenys.
That's a wrap on episode 9!
A dragon is in the building!
Otto seems to think they are clapping for him???
King Aegon... now...
They have locked the Rhaenys Targaryen in her chambers
The prince is missing.
Otto Highower and his allies had planned to kill Rhaenyra Targaryen and her family.
Ser Creston Cole kills Lord Lyman Beesbury... the only one who dissented on the plan to install Prince Aegon.
The Hightowers begin their move in the game of thrones.
"He told me he wished for Aegon to be king."
Otto Hightower asks "Who knows"
The King is Dead...
It begins...

With multiple marriages and so many children, the family trees of the house of the dragon can be hard to follow. Luckily for us, the show has helped us with these nifty graphics and for all questions that aren't answered, check out our full coverage.
Who is Aegon II?
Aegon the II is the eldest born son of King Viserys. If it were not for the King's choice to name his eldest daughter Rhaenyra as his hire, Aegon would have assumed the Iron Throne.
Aegon, first by his name, was the first Targaryen to rule Westeros. Known as Aegon the Conqueror, it is he who had a dream of the white walkers, and it is that dream that has been passed down from heir to heir. King Viserys' last words were about this dream, and while he thought he was speaking to Rhaeneyra, it was Alicent who heard him. Since Aegon I's dream was a mystery to Alicent she has misinterpreted Viserys' words and has invented that the King's dying wish was to see her son, Aegon II, on the Iron Throne.
Fans have loved House of the Dragon so far, and many should be happy to know that a second season of the Game of Thrones prequel has been ordered by HBO.
Now that the war between the two sides of the Targaryen house will begin, it can be assumed that the second season will see this fight through to the end.

We miss her!
Throwback to Queen Aemma, who we all miss dearly!
While, Queen Aemma passed away in the first episode of the series, her ghost haunts the show at the most unexpecting times.
Images from Episode 9: 'The Green Council'
The name of the episode, 'The Green Council, ' refers to the house colors of the Hightowers.
In the wake of the death of King Viserys, Alicent and her father, Otto Hightower, take matters into their own hands, opting to name Prince Aegon King of the Seven Kingdoms...
Tonight is sure to be a great show...
Prince Aemond's divisive toast
Prince Aemond was the last of his family to give a toast at the first dinner all the members had spent together in a long while. It should be mentioned that the prince waited until his father, the King, had left the room before giving a toast were he alluded to the fact that his newpherws (the children of princess Rhaenyra) are bastards.
Queen Alicent was horrified by Aemond's statement and when the men came to blows, it was Prince Daemon who stood in the way, staring down Aemond as he was sent to his chambers.
It seems that for Aemond the wounds that left him without an eye still fester...

The preview of episode nine begins with news that King Viserys, which was alluded to at the end of episode 8. It is during this episode that we can expect the main drama of the series to pick up.
Then there is a move to a scene where Alicent, who has misinterpreted the king's talk of Aegon's dream, and says that it was Viserys' dying wish to see her son Aegon be named King of Westeros. News flash, Alicent! There are two Aegons, and King Viserys was not speaking of your son.
We see a coronation ceremony where many of the lords of the land are coming to bend the knee, we do not yet know who they are bending it for.

**SPOILER ALERT**
Hello and Welcome to AS USA's live blog following episode nine of House of the Dragon.
We left our characters in Kings Landing, with King Viserys on his deathbed whispering of Aegon's dream. The issue is that the King thought he was speaking with his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra, and in reality, it was his wife Queen Alicent.
While it seemed that Queen Alicent and Princess Rhaenyra had made some sort of truce, the toast made by Aemond Targaryen soured the evening as a whole.
Follow along with us as we watch the episode and discuss what is coming next for the final episode of season one.
