Update:

Americans are gearing up for Thanksgiving Day, preparing bountiful feasts and looking forward to enjoying it with family and friends. But before everyone can sit down for the meal, many of us will turn on the TV to catch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Or if you are fortunate enough to be in New York City, head out to watch it in person.

The weather forecast looks promising for the 99th edition of the annual beloved spectacle of marching bands, performances, floats, and, of course, giant balloons. If you are planning to be one of the 3.5 million people expected to see the parade in person though, bundle up as it will be chilly out.

The 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade route

Every year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade winds its way over 2.5 miles through some of the Big Apple’s most iconic streets. The parade begins at West 77th Street and Central Park West (CPW). From there it will proceed south on CPW until it reaches Columbus Circle where it will turn east on 59th Street.

The parade will continue along 59th Street to 6th Avenue, where it will turn south once again for the final stretch. The procession of floats, balloons, marching bands and more will follow 6th Avenue to 34th Street turning west and culminating at Macy’s Herald Square by noon.

Viewing will be restricted at Columbus Circle and at the end of the route. Macy’s says that some of the best viewing can be found along CPW between West 75th Street and West 63rd Street, on the south side of West 59th Street between Columbus Circle and 6th Avenue, and on 6th Avenue from West 59th Street to West 38th Street.
