New fast food chain coming to Walmart stores: what it is and in which states?
The supply chain has signed an alliance with a franchise specialized in poke, a typical Hawaiian dish that has been very fashionable for a few years.
Walmart and Uncle Sharkii Poke Bar have entered into a business partnership that could soon bring the fast-food chain’s offerings to the retail giant’s vast locations. “My dream has been to bring the essence of Sharkii Ohana to millions of families shopping at Walmart,” said Fen Reyes, founder and CEO of Uncle Sharkii, upon signing the agreement.
Walmart to offer pokes
Initially, the collaboration will commence in ten locations within California. Over the next five months, these new establishments will serve as a trial before considering a broader expansion to bring Sharkii’s food to other parts of the United States.
Uncle Sharkii currently operates in California, Hawaii, Texas, and Utah, and is set to open outlets in Arizona and Nevada. The company is accustomed to operating in multiple states simultaneously and has already demonstrated its expansion capacity due to public acceptance.
What is a Poke?
Poke is Sharkii’s specialty. This traditional Hawaiian dish typically consists of a rice base topped with a variety of toppings, usually healthy, akin to a kind of rice salad. Although globally it has been greatly fused with typical Japanese culinary elements, this traditional dish can be paired with almost any meat, fish, vegetable, or sauce.
The ‘Poke phenomenon’ is rising in popularity as a fast yet healthier alternative to traditional fast food. Additionally, the ability to create one’s own dish from scratch is a major draw, allowing each individual to enjoy their favorite combination or include preferred ingredients in their dish.
