Not New York City or Key West: This is the top domestic vacation spot for U.S. travelers
The United States offers a wide range of variety for internal travellers with one surprise city leading the way in popularity.
The busy summer travel months are fast approaching and many people across the nation are making plans and making travel reservations.
A recent survey from TripAdvisor ranked the top domestic summer travel destinations for U.S. travelers.
The survey used two key sources: an online survey of over 2,800 consumers conducted between March 26 and April 8, 2025, and searches made by travelers on Tripadvisor between February 1 and April 10, 2025, for travel between June 1 and August 31, 2025.
Knocking iconic destinations such as New York City of Myrtle Beach is the capital of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Vegas is globally renowned as the “Entertainment Capital of the World” and boasts an incredible variety of shows, from lavish Cirque du Soleil productions and magic shows to residencies by legendary musicians and comedians. The Sphere, with its immersive visual and audio experiences, is the latest addition to its cutting-edge entertainment offerings.

Of course gambling and casinos are an integral part of the Vegas experience with the city is packed with some of the largest and most luxurious casinos in the world, offering every type of gaming imaginable, from slot machines to high-stakes poker tables.
