There is just a week to go until Thanksgiving, one of the nation’s most beloved holidays. Well, perhaps not for turkeys. Millions of Americans will be gathering with friends and family to celebrate over a feast and then catch some football afterwards, if they can keep their eyes open.

But before the food hits the table, marching bands and performers will be taking to the streets and giant balloons to the air in New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The hallmark of the holiday is celebrating its 99th edition in 2025

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: three hours of spectacle

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 27 November, serving as the inaugural event not only for the national holiday but for the festive season as a whole. For a little over three hours, the streets of New York City will be filled with impressive balloons, iconic floats, and live performances.

The parade begins at West 77th Street and Central Park West, and then wind its way over 2.5 miles through some of the Big Apple’s most iconic streets, culminating at Macy’s Herald Square by noon.

Who will be performing at the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Hosting this year’s the NBC telecast of the Macy’s parade will be Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker.

According to the official event website, the 2025 Macy’s Parade will feature a total of four balloonincles, 11 marching bands, 33 clown crews, and 9 performance groups. And it wouldn’t be a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade without the floats and giant balloons.

Joining the lineup of 28 floats this year are Brick-tastic Winter Mountain, Friends-giving in POPCITY, Master Chocolatier Ballroom, The Counting Sheep’s Dream Generator, The Land of Ice and Wonder, The Littlest Float, and Upside Down Invasion: Stranger Things. New this year among the 34 giant balloons that will dazzle spectators are Mario, PAC-MAN, and Shrek’s Onion Carriage.

Additionally, Tony-winning ‘Wicked’ star Cynthia Erivo will be the opening performer joined by 26 other musical performances including the ‘KPOP DEMON HUNTERS’ HUNTR/X singers EJAE, Audrey Nuna & Rei Ami. The other artists include:

The action will kick off at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PT on Thursday 27 November and can be live streamed on Peacock and on NBC. The TV broadcast will start at 8:30 am in all time zones and run until noon, with an encore broadcast at starting at 2 PM.
