Podcast war: Joe Rogan Experience fans outraged and grow conspiratorial as the anti-Trump ‘The MeidasTouch Podcast’ takes the top spot
Fans of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ can’t believe that an anti-Trump podcast has booted their favorite host from the top spot on various streaming platforms.

In terms of monthly downloads, The MeidasTouch podcast has surpassed ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ as February’s most popular podcast. The news, courtesy of Podscribe, shows that Joe Rogan’s program was bumped to number two with more listeners opting for the MediasTouch between January 1 and February 12.
The X account for Rogan’s podcast responded to the news with a post captioned “Who?”, alluding to the fact that he had not heard of the MeidasTouch. However, in the December Podscribe report, the Meidas Touch placed second behind Rogan’s show, with the former garnering 60.3 million downloads and the latter 43.2 million.
The brothers behind the MeidasTouch Podcast
For those not familiar, The MeidasTouch Podcast is the product of the media Ben, Brett, and Jordy Meiselas in 2020, and describes their outlet as a “pro-democracy news network.“ The hosts are all Democrats, and their surpassing of Rogan’s show in downloads has led to a ‘podcast civil war’ on social media.

The anti-Trump podcast currently sits at #1 on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, a fact touted by the creators on social media. On both platforms The Joe Rogan Experience ranks third; in the case of Apple behind The New York Times’ The Daily and on Spotify behind the Fall of Civilization Podcast, hosted by Dr. Paul Cooper.
Rogan’s ‘unbelievable’ demotion
The news of Rogan’s demotion has his fans upset, some even going so far as to accuse the platforms of promoting his competition. Matt Edwards, the founding director of the Citizens Alliance of Idaho, replied to The Rogan Experience’s X account, perhaps in jest, that “Apple probably ships new iPhone with that Podcast already subscribed in the app. Kinda like they did with that awful U2 album.”

Others simply could not believe that a podcast hosted by people they are unfamiliar with could really have overtaken Joe.
Yep, some unknown person or group that nobody has ever heard of is suddenly more popular than Joe. You heard it on MSNBC. Very believable!

Fans of the MeidasTouch were not silent after hearing the news either, with many congratulating the company on its success, particularly since November when Donald Trump was re-elected. Joe Rogan endorsed the Republican candidate shortly before election day, and as the Trump administration continues to implement its agenda, time will tell if the beloved host will remain in the president’s camp. The latest report from Podscribe shows that Rogan’s show has around 10 million fewer downloads than it did in December. However, these figures can shift quickly, and more time is needed to determine if the decline in reach continues.
