House begins second round of voting

Congress has begun its second round of voting to select a speaker.

The Republicans have put forward Rep. Jim Jordan as their nominee, while the Democrats have chosen House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for the role.

In the initial vote on Tuesday, Jordan fell short of winning the speakership. As a conservative Republican, he could only afford to lose four votes from his party if he is to get the majority. He garnered 200 votes, whereas Jeffries received 212.
