America’s fastest-growing grocer continues to open new stores across the nation. In preparation for those upcoming openings and the holiday season, Aldi is looking to add 13,000 new hires to its already 49,000 strong workforce.

In order to attract new employees Aldi is raising its national average hourly starting pay to $18 for store associates and $23 for warehouse workers based on market and position. Additionally, the grocer, named by Forbes as one of America’s best large employers, said in a press release that it provides “industry-leading benefits and opportunities to build long-term career.”

Our ability to attract and retain talent has always been key to our success, and we look forward to helping our new team members grow in their careers,” added Atty McGrath, president of ALDI.

Aldi’s robust benefits and opportunities for advancement

Besides the increased hourly wages, Aldi will provide access to perks such as health insurance, paid time off and more to those working at least 30 hours a week. Workers at the grocery retailer can also enjoy flexible scheduling and 100% paid parental and caregiver leave both of which were introduced last year in response to employee feedback.

Working at the fast-growing grocer is more than just a job, “it’s a steppingstone toward a successful, long-term ALDI career,” the company says. Aldi, according to Glassdoor research, outranks competitors in career opportunity ratings.

“Since I started working at ALDI 16 years ago as a store associate, I’ve taken on new roles including store manager and purchasing assistant,” said Danielle, a Wisconsin-based ALDI employee. “Today, I work as a warehouse operations supervisor.”

Aldi says that store associates have gone on to become 70% of assistant store managers and more than 30% store managers. Many as well go on to “experience roles in buying, human resources, supply chain and more.”
