The Lithuanian Army has the ultimate anti-drone weapon—and it’s a game-changer in the war in Ukraine
The portable EDM4S SkyWiper can disable enemy drones from up to three miles away, giving Ukraine a critical battlefield advantage.

In 2025, one of the greatest threats on the battlefield can be no larger than a backpack. Drones have become an essential tool for modern militaries, offering a fast, effective, and low-risk way to attack or gather intelligence without endangering human operators.
As drone warfare expands, so does the race to counter it. One of the most promising defenses doesn’t come from a global superpower, but from a small Baltic nation.
Lithuania’s military contribution
Developed by the Lithuanian defense company NT Service, the EDM4S SkyWiper has become a source of national pride. It’s a portable anti-drone weapon capable of disabling unmanned aircraft from as far as three miles away (roughly 5 kilometers).

But calling it a “weapon” is only half true. Unlike traditional firearms, the SkyWiper relies on advanced electronics rather than bullets. Just a few years ago, such systems required a mounted platform or vehicle to operate. Today, a single soldier can carry and use it like a standard assault rifle.
A rifle that shoots electromagnetic pulses
The SkyWiper’s design is based on the frame of a standard assault rifle—in this case, the German-made HK G36—fitted with the electronic components needed to fire bursts of electromagnetic energy. These pulses can disrupt a drone’s control link, forcing it to crash or land safely.
Each SkyWiper features six 10-watt antennas that emit signals across multiple frequencies, ensuring effective interference with different types of enemy drones. The 24-volt battery lasts for just over 30 minutes of continuous use, enough for most combat scenarios.
Lithuania’s powerful gift to Ukraine
Each unit costs around $16,000, but Lithuania has viewed the investment as more than worthwhile. At the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, the Lithuanian government donated 110 SkyWipers to Ukraine. The devices have since played a crucial role in neutralizing Russian drone attacks, protecting troops and key infrastructure.
As drone warfare continues to evolve, Lithuania’s SkyWiper stands as proof that innovation, not just firepower, can shape the future of conflict.
