Update:

A remarkable one-off Ferrari, designed through the luxury marque’s exclusive Tailor Made programme, recently fetched an astonishing £19 million (roughly $26 million) at RM Sotheby’s charity auction held during Monterey Car Week in mid-August 2025.

The buyer remains anonymous, but the sale’s significance is crystal clear. This unique Daytona SP3, affectionately nicknamed the “bumblebee” for its striking black-and-yellow livery, has set the record for the most expensive new Ferrari ever sold at auction.

This special model, officially numbered 599+1, was created in addition to the standard production of 599 Daytona SP3s, effectively making it the ultimate finale to the series.

As a bespoke masterpiece, it boasts customisation beyond aesthetics; its upholstery is crafted from recycled tyre fabric and the dashboard featuring carbon fibre borrowed from Formula 1 designs. It also bears the Ferrari logo in Giallo Modena yellow across its body—a striking move in Ferrari’s already eccentric production history.

Performance-wise, the car has a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, capable of going from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.85 seconds and reaching a top speed of 211 mph. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive add to the premium specs.

The high price shoots past the positively cheap original SP3’s $2.2 million and was entirely donated to The Ferrari Foundation, a public organisation dedicated to supporting educational and community projects. Sotheby’s even waived the buyer’s premium.
