This legendary Disneyland attraction that’s been running for over 30 years is closing for good in early June

The only constant in life is that things change. We live in a world that is permanently evolving, and the new replaces the old. At Disney World, it’s the end of the line for an attraction that millions of fans have loved and enjoyed for over three decades. But fashions change, tastes change, people move on.

Muppets on the move

Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to be demolished at some point this year. The 3D film attraction which features Jim Henson’s lovable Muppets, opened at the Bay Lake resort in Florida in May 1991 - exactly one year after the puppeteer-animator-actor’s death.

The last screening of Muppet Vision 3D will take place on Saturday June 7 2025 - the show was recorded for posterity in front of a live audience on May 14.

Apart from the Hollywood Studios, for now the Grand Avenue area is still home to the Miss Piggy fountain and the popular PizzeRizzo. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano pulled down its shutters for the last time on May 10.

Monsters Inc theme park in construction

Back in November 2024, Disney announced that Muppet Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios would close alongside the rest of Grand Avenue, the site would be demolished and replaced by a themed area based on Pixar‘s Monsters, Inc.franchise. Kermit and Co. meanwhile will be moving to the park’s Sunset Boulevard zone.

Muppets Courtyard‘s demise is one of many changes across the board at Disney World this year. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed at the start of the New Year - the ride is undergoing an extensive refurbishment and isn’t due to reopen until 2026. Elsewhere, a brand new attraction: The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure opened this week.
