Update:

Mary Trump has never minced words about her uncle. But this time, she’s not just accusing Donald Trump of being unfit for office – she’s linking him to Elon Musk, a secretive federal agency, and an alleged effort to centralize power by harvesting Americans’ most sensitive personal data.

What is Mary Trump saying about DOGE?

In a scathing Substack post published on Thursday, Mary alleged that the Department of Governmental Efficiency – DOGE – was created for one reason: “to make sure Elon Musk and Donald Trump have access to our information in a way that makes them both incredibly powerful and beyond the reach of accountability.”She called the agency “illegal,” “unconstitutional,” and “a disaster since the day it was created.”

What is DOGE and why is it controversial?

The acronym DOGE is clearly ‘cleverly’ linked to certain crypto schemes, but depending on how you pronounce it, could have been an giveaway from the start. As a new federal agency, quietly staffed by Musk allies, it is now facing growing scrutiny. A whistleblower report shared with NPR revealed that DOGE employees stole around 10 gigabytes of data from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), including confidential information on union activity and labor disputes.

According to CNN’s Jake Tapper, DOGE didn’t just access the data – they “took a substantial amount” of it. That’s raised alarms among lawmakers, labor advocates, and privacy experts.

And the alarms didn’t stop there.

Is DOGE linked to Russia?

Daniel Berulis, the whistleblower and former DOGE employee, reported that foreign entities – possibly Russian – attempted to log in to DOGE accounts within 15 minutes of their creation. They had the right usernames and passwords. It happened over 20 times, according to Berulis’ attorney Andrew Bakage.

Berulis later received a note taped to his door containing personal data and drone surveillance images of him walking his dog.

Mary Trump

In her post titled The Good In Us, Mary Trump went beyond the data theft, alleging that DOGE is now repurposing federal databases – from HUD, the IRS, and Social Security – to track immigrants and facilitate deportations.

She claimed:

  • HUD data is being used to identify undocumented immigrants
  • The Social Security Administration revoked over 6,300 work permits
  • The IRS shared tax records with ICE

“It’s not only about one subgroup of people,” said Tanya Broder of the National Immigration Law Center in comments to The Washington Post. “Everyone cares about their privacy. Nobody wants their healthcare information or tax information used against them.”

DOGE investigation

The NPR report sparked concern on Capitol Hill. Representative Gerry Connolly, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, is calling for a formal investigation into DOGE’s activities and its access to the NLRB’s data.

In Mary Trump’s words, “DOGE is a weapon. It was never meant to serve the American people.” And if her claims are accurate, the agency’s real mission wasn’t about efficiency at all. It was about control.
