Weather alert in Texas: Tropical Storm Harold makes landfall with torrential rains and high winds

There is a new tropical storm battering the US, this time in Texas as tropical storm Harold threatens floods and tornadoes.

After Tropical Storm Hilary hit the southeast of the country, affecting California and Nevada, the United States welcomes a new cyclone: Tropical Storm Harold.

According to official information from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the natural phenomenon made landfall at 11:00 a.m. ET in southwest Texas, 35 miles from Padre Island and 50 miles from Corpus Christi.

Tropical Storm Harold threatens flooding and tornadoes

The NHC is forecasting heavy rainfall and sustained wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour (mph). Water accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is expected, while in southern Texas, rainfall could reach up to 6 inches. Flash flooding is expected across much of the state.

The National Tornado Center also has issued alerts for possible tornadoes and storm surges in South Texas, and urges citizens to remain vigilant for warnings from authorities.
