Thrifty Food Plan adjustment for SNAP benefits goes into effect

As January comes to an end, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients can look forward to receiving a new monthly payment. The United States provides financial aid to low-income individuals, with SNAP benefits being one of the most popular programs. These payments are deposited onto an EBT debit card that can be used at certain supermarkets, establishments, and mobile markets. The program aims to provide food to those who need it most.

The amount each family will receive as aid will vary depending on their respective circumstances and the number of family members. Nonetheless, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has a table that outlines the maximum amount of aid that a family can receive up to the year 2024. Here is the information:

  • 1 member: $291 dollars
  • 2 members: $535
  • 3 members: $766
  • 4 members: $973
  • 5 members: $1,155
  • 6 members: $1,386
  • 7 members: $1,532
  • 8 members: $1.1751
  • Additional member: +$219

In 2023, the maximum payment for an individual was $281, but with the COLA increase, payments rose to $291. These amounts will remain valid until September 2024, when the Department will announce the adjustment for the following year.
