An investigation has been launched into reports that hospital staff attempted to view the Princess of Wales’s private medical records at The London Clinic.

According to a report from English media outlets, at least one member of staff was alleged to have been caught trying to access the notes concerning the royal. An Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) spokesperson said on Tuesday: “We can confirm that we have received a breach report and are assessing the information provided.”

Where is The London Clinic, the hospital that has reportedly been ‘hacked’ to get Kate Middleton’s clinical data?

Where is The London Clinic?

The hospital in question is located in central London, where Kate was treated in January for abdominal surgery. One of England’s largest private hospitals, the official website of the centre says that it is “the only private hospital to offer the public 24/7, same-day access to a GP, 365 days a year”. It is located at 20 Devonshire Place, on the corner of Marylebone Road, close to the Regent’s Park underground station.

“As part of our charitable commitments” the description continues, “we aim for 20% of our patients to be non-traditional fee paying, to support both the NHS and underserved communities.”

The building was designed by Charles Henry Biddulph-Pinchard and officially opened in 1932 by the Duchess of York, who was Queen from 11 December 1936 to 6 February 1952.

People from John F. Kennedy to Augusto Pinochet have been treated at the hospital, which has seen various improvements over the years. Queen Elizabeth II opened the new cancer centre in 2010 and 9 years later a robotic surgery ward was opened.
