The trial of Alec Baldwin will begin on July 9 for the involuntary manslaughter of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who lost her life on October 21, 2021 on the filming set of the film movie ‘Rust’, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
According to the facts, Hutchins died after Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun that was loaded with live ammunition. The shot which hit Hutchins, who was behind the camera supervising the take, also injured the film’s director, Joel Souza.
Hutchins was taken by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she died, while Souza was released hours later. More than two years after the event, on July 9 the trial against Alec Baldwin and his role in the unfortunate death of Hutchins will begin.

Who was Halyna Hutchins, the victim of Alec Baldwin's manslaughter trial?
Hutchins was born in Ukraine, where she studied international journalism at the National University of Kyiv. Once she graduated with her degree, she moved to London to work on British documentaries. Later, she emigrated to Los Angeles, California, to study at the American Film Institute, where she graduated in 2015. Four years later, in 2019, she was named a “rising star” by American Cinematographer magazine.
Her cinematographer credits include independent film titles such as ‘Snowbound’, ‘Darlin’, ‘Archenemy’, ‘Blindfire’ and ‘The Mad Hatter’. She also worked on several episodes of the series ‘A Luv Tale: The Series’. In 2019, she was recipient of the cinematography award at the English Riviera Film Festival for her work on the short film ‘Treacle’.
According to the biography on her Instagram profile, Hutchins described herself as a “restless dreamer, adrenaline junkie and cinematographer.” Her last publication on the aforementioned social network was riding a horse in New Mexico, precisely, on one of her days off from filming ‘Rust ‘.
