This man is 79 years old and lives alone in a care home. With no family and no friends, he says no one cares about him.
Wolfgang Leiweke’s home in Germany offers beautiful views, abundant natural light, and a prime location, yet he can scarcely enjoy it. At 79, he lives alone and struggles with mobility and health problems that make even basic daily tasks difficult. With no close family or reliable support network, he repeatedly says he feels completely neglected.
Leiweke explains that he is the last surviving member of his immediate family, apart from a cousin with whom he has little contact. His physical limitations mean he requires assistance with everyday activities, including personal hygiene and preparing meals.
His life has been marked by hardship, from growing up in the former East Germany to leaving the country in 1974. After settling on the western side of the Berlin Wall and later moving to Brandenburg, he kept an apartment in Berlin, which he is now unable to maintain.
Although Wolfgang currently lives in an assisted living facility, he continues to feel isolated. He says he has no friends who can support him and that, after giving up legal guardianship, he receives only occasional help from healthcare staff. Even so, he acknowledges that his situation may need to be reassessed to determine whether additional support is required.
