Rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again has signed a deal with Motown Records, the Universal Music Group-owned record label.

The Baton Rouge musician released his fifth solo project of the year in August, fulfilling his obligation to Atlantic Records. Terms of the new deal have not been released but the financial side of the agreement is “highly competitive,” according to Variety.

It is thought that NBA YoungBoy will begin releasing music on his new label in early 2023, meaning that fans will have a few more months to hear what he puts out on Motown Records.

It has been a meteoric rise for the 23-year-old, who has released four studio albums while signed to Atlantic Records.

Last year he signed a collaborative venture with Motown Records and his Never Broke Again collective, which allowed him to promote new talents.

I felt like I had a responsibility to my artists to make sure to find the right partner for my label,” YoungBoy said upon signing that initial deal. “I’m looking forward working with Ethiopia, Kenoe and Motown Records.”

NBA YoungBoy’s prodigious output pace has seen him joke online about the number of projects he will release this year. Earlier this month he dropped a 19-track LP entitled ‘Ma I Got a Family’, with DJ Drama, a sixth offering of the year, but joked online that there was more to come before the end of 2022.

Fun challenge ‘10 tapes 1 year ??’” he wrote on YouTube. “I’m finna be on 6 you think I can do it?”
