Nintendo has no plans to release a new Switch this year

Prolonging Nintendo Switch's state of grace at the commercial level is the first objective of the Japanese company. That, and to ensure stock for Holidays.

Update:
Nintendo has no plans to release a new Switch this year

Things are going well for Nintendo Switch; both the console and its games are selling briskly and the industry situation in terms of component manufacturing is at a complicated moment. So much so that Nintendo will not launch a successor console in 2022. Instead, as indicated in the financial report analyzed by Nikkei - reported by VGC-, the company will focus on securing stock for the coming months, because this summer they have not been able to manufacture as much as they would have liked and the holiday season is just around the corner.

Nintendo Switch is in the middle of its life cycle: games for this year and 2023

One of the reasons why Nintendo has no plans to release new hardware to the market, according to the report, is that the hybrid console is "in an intermediate phase of its life cycle" (its debut took place in March 2017, so it has already completed 5 years in stores). A generation in which the machine has received a couple of reissues: the V2 model, which is exactly the same as the previous one but with a higher-capacity battery, and Nintendo Switch OLED, a more sophisticated version and with various improvements.

It is not surprising that the Japanese company is focusing all its efforts on the current platform, as several major releases are planned for this year, 2023, and beyond. In the first half of 2022, we have seen titles such as Mario Strikers: Battle League, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Triangle Strategy, or the recent Xenoblade Chronicles 3, among others. Next October 28 Bayonetta 3 finally arrives, and on November 18 comes one of the most anticipated: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which just yesterday surprised us all with a new trailer.

2023 is marked by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, one of the most anticipated releases of the generation (still without a concrete release date), and beyond that, without anyone capable of imagining when we will have it in our hands, there is Samus Aran, who will star in a new interstellar mission in Metroid Prime 4.
