A new Wonder Woman movie is underway: Will Gal Gadot return as the iconic DC hero?
James Gunn confirms a solo Wonder Woman film is in development, but casting details remain uncertain.

James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has officially announced that a new Wonder Woman movie is in development, with its script currently being written. However, there’s one major question: Will Gal Gadot reprise her role as Diana Prince?
Gunn has not confirmed casting details, leaving fans wondering whether Gadot will return or if DC is planning a new interpretation of the character.
Gal Gadot’s status: Still unconfirmed
The uncertainty surrounding Gadot’s involvement comes after Warner Bros. canceled Wonder Woman 3, which was originally set to continue her storyline in the previous DCEU.
Although Gadot has expressed interest in continuing as Diana, DC Studios has yet to officially comment on her role in the rebooted franchise.

How does this film fit into the new DCU?
Under Gunn’s leadership, Wonder Woman is positioned as a major figure alongside Superman, Batman, and Supergirl in the reimagined DCU.
Upcoming projects include:
- July 2025 – Superman, starring David Corenswet.
- 2026 – Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, featuring Milly Alcock.
- 2028 – Paradise Lost, a series exploring Themyscira’s political intrigue.
While Paradise Lost focuses on Amazonian history, the new Wonder Woman film will tell a standalone story, likely centered on Diana’s adventures.
