All the GTA 6 delays: Is a new trailer coming soon?
The studio’s quest for excellence pushes Grand Theft Auto VI’s release again, this time to November 2026.
Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed again. Rockstar Games’ title has been on the list of most anticipated titles since before its official announcement, and since we saw that first trailer in December 2023, we’ve had only one thing on our minds: its release date. However, Rockstar, being the perfectionists that only they can be, has also gotten us used to their titles being delayed several times... despite repeatedly saying that there would be no delays. This is the story of the various delays Grand Theft Auto VI has had so far.
All the delays Grand Theft Auto VI has had
It was on December 5, 2023, that finally, after many rumors, we got our first glimpse of Grand Theft Auto VI. The trailer broke viewing records and left us waiting for more. At that point, all we had was the announcement that it would arrive sometime in 2025. With only a few weeks to go before the start of 2024, the wait was already getting long. Just five months later, Rockstar revealed in an earnings report that the game was scheduled for fall 2025, shortening its initial release date at that time.
After a 2024 in which Rockstar released no new information, but the first delay rumors appeared. We had to wait until May 2, 2025, for the first delay. In a statement, they revealed that the Fall 2025 release date had been pushed back, and would now arrive in just over a year, on May 26, 2026. Previously, Obbe Vermeij, the studio’s former developer, predicted that if GTA VI were delayed, Rockstar would announce it in May 2025. Fortunately, a few days later, the long-awaited second trailer for GTA 6 was released, as well as information about the first locations within the state of Leonida.
In mid-September 2025, we heard the first rumor of what would eventually be inevitable, with Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming mentioning that GTA 6 would not be released in May 2026, and might be delayed until October of that same year. Finally, we arrive at today, and we discover that it won’t be until October, but November 19, 2026, that we will finally play GTA VI.
A new trailer on the way?
Certainly, the long development time since its announcement and the mere two trailers have made the information feel like it’s being doled out in small doses. Previously, we had reviewed how the trailers for GTA IV and GTA V had been distributed, showing that the closer we got to the release date, the more information we saw. With the goal shifting once again, that much-anticipated information may seem increasingly distant. However, considering that the last time there was a delay, a trailer was released shortly thereafter, we can only hope for that consolation prize.
