Fans think Silent Hill Ascension was written by an AI: the studio behind it has responded

Genvid, the team behind Silent Hill Ascension, admitted they experimented with AI in the past. But is the interactive series made with it? The devs answered.

Update:
Silent Hill Ascension

The return of Konami’s survival horror began with the wrong foot. Silent Hill: Ascension, the interactive series based on the Japanese franchise, has been received with a storm of criticism, which has covered the project’s reputation in fog. The script, one of the most important aspects of any Silent Hill, has been on hot coals from the beginning, to the point that fans suspect that the developers may have used AI to write the story. Jacob Navok, CEO of Genvid – the studio responsible – has flatly denied this on Twitter/X.

“Every word in Ascension was written by real people, many of whom have long-running careers in writing including Telltale titles, Pixar titles, GoW Ragnarok, Resident Evil Village and more. Across our 100,000+ words, zero are authored by LLMs or AI, and all are from dedicated work of a talented team.”

According to Navok, it is true that his company experimented with artificial intelligence for creative purposes, but the manager points out that this happened in 2021: “None of that work ended up being used on this or other projects,” he added.

What’s happening with Silent Hill 2 Remake?

The wait is becoming eternal. It’s been months since Konami and Bloober Team outlined the future of Silent Hill, but the remake of the second installment has not yet finalized any details or release date. Faced with the impatience of fans, the creators of Layers of Fear and The Medium have assured fans that everything is going well and they have asked for a little more patience.

“On behalf of our development team, we would like to clarify that the production is progressing smoothly and in accordance with our schedule”, they said.
