GTA 6: All the rumors and predictions that explain this month’s announcement

The next installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise could be announced this month, at least that’s what fans are theorizing.

Ten years after its last release, one thing is clear: Grand Theft Auto fans are ready for a new installment. Certainly, Grand Theft Auto V is a success that will go down in the annals of video game history as one of the best-selling and highest-grossing titles ever. The story of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, along with a very solid online mode like GTA Online, meant that Rockstar was able to easily carry it through three console generations and create a gold mine for their next entry.

However, the wait has been long, and Grand Theft Auto VI is a game that Rockstar Games fans have been waiting for a long time. Despite the particular situation in which the company found itself last year with a huge leak showing this title still in development, the studio has remained completely silent, while fans have interpreted everything that has been published on social media as a clue. And just this week, fans of the series have seen the moon, once again to financial reports, put on their tin foil hats and used their imaginations to predict the date when Rockstar will finally unveil its next game.

GTA 6 could be announced today ... or later this month

The first theory arose on September 29, when Rockstar published an image on social media with information about GTA Online’s Happy Moon Festival, which will take place throughout October, and the bonuses that can be obtained. The first letters of Vinewood were enough to form a theory that, according to the phase of the moon that appears in the image and the announcement and release dates of previous games, everything pointed to an announcement this Tuesday, October 3.

The other theory dates back to August 9 of this year, when it was announced that Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, “expect[s] to deliver $8 billion in net bookings... next year,” which confirmed a previous release window for Grand Theft Auto VI for fiscal year 2024, between April 2024 and March 2025. Although at the time the studio came out to dispel doubts, simply mentioning that “the next entry in the series is underway,” users like @MarxxChris have calculated that the title will be announced on October 26, 2023, considering that Rockstar announces the release of its game a year in advance. However, this theory doesn’t hold water either, as the studio has been known to delay its titles by a few months, as happened with Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Will these be the dates when GTA 6 will be announced?

Definitely not on October 3rd, at the time of writing (fortunately) Rockstar has not announced anything about it. It is also worth mentioning that previous titles have had some kind of teaser on Rockstar’s social media, such as changing the main image for something thematic, as happened with Red Dead Redemption 2. For now, we can only wait for the most appropriate moment that the studio decides to announce, while fans just continue making theories.
