Hollow Knight: Silksong’s uncertain future, fans concerned over Team Cherry’s latest move
The studio behind Hollow Knight 2 continues to raise doubts as players grow increasingly impatient.

Alongside GTA VI, Hollow Knight: Silksong remains one of the most highly anticipated games. Announced years ago, the title has yet to receive a confirmed release date, a new trailer, or any major development updates.
After a long period of silence, Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 finally showcased a few seconds of Silksong, confirming its 2025 release window. Shortly after, Xbox’s official account reiterated that the game would launch on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in the same year.
While this seemed to solidify the 2025 release, Team Cherry’s latest move has sparked new concerns. The Australian studio removed the game’s trailer from its Steam page, only to re-upload it later. Additionally, the Steam listing does not mention a 2025 release, despite Nintendo and Xbox publicly stating otherwise.
Six years of silence... what’s going on?
It has been six years since Silksong was first announced, and fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of communication from Team Cherry.
The studio has rarely shared updates, and its official X account has been inactive since mid-2023. This prolonged silence has led to speculation about the game’s development status.
However, with Nintendo and Xbox including Silksong in their 2025 release calendars, there is hope that the game is still on track.
While Team Cherry remains tight-lipped, fans are left wondering:
- Will the game actually launch in 2025?
- Why did Team Cherry remove and re-upload the trailer?
- Is development facing unexpected delays?
For now, players can only trust Nintendo and Xbox’s statements—but until Team Cherry officially confirms the release date, uncertainty remains.
