Not since Hugh Jackman appeared in Bryan Singer’s X-Men in 2000 have we seen another Wolverine on the big screen. And the truth is that it is exciting to see him back in the role after his extraordinary work in Logan, although it is clear that the process of getting back into the skin of the Canadian mutant is not easy for the 54-year-old actor. It is true that the Australian has never been out of shape and has always been in good physical shape, but in his media heyday he reached an impressive muscle mass with which he could lift up to 300 pounds, so getting ready not to disappoint any fan is a priority.

A rigorous training to become Wolverine again

As part of the process, Hugh Jackman regularly shares in social media moments from his training where we see him suffering to get up to the challenge. The latest is a treadmill session with personal trainer Beth Lewis as part of a series of videos titled #becomingwolverineagain, in which we see him in top form.

Jackman’s return after retiring from the role with Logan is significant. Deadpool 3 is the first mutant-centric film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after they bought the rights from 20th Century Fox, and the first MCU film with a “Restricted” rating. For Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, it is very emotional to have the actor back in the role, as he was an associate producer on the aforementioned X-Men movie in 2000 and was present at the Australian’s first audition for the role, so his presence here has something of a coming full circle feel to it.
