The Warner Bros. character brawler will finally have an official release date, with improvements coming in the coming months.

Update:
MultiVersus returns from an open beta hiatus and now has a return date

Bugs Bunny, Batman, Shaggy, Arya Stark, Finn, and many more will finally be back to continue hitting each other in MultiVersus. Player First Games announced that its free-to-play title featuring multiple characters from Warner Bros. franchises will officially launch on May 28th and showcased several improvements to the game.

Through a video posted on the game’s Twitter / X account, Tony Huynh, director of MultiVersus, talked about the return of the game and the improvements that the final version will bring. “The team has heard your feedback, we’ve learned a lot from our open beta,” Huynh said. “From day one, we set out to make a game that not only packs a punch, but makes a mark on the game genre we love.”

One of the first changes that Huynh highlights is the jump to Unreal Engine 5, which improves the visuals of the game, “in other words, Shaggy’s sandwiches has never looked better”. Among other improvements in the game, a new PvE mode will be included where new characters and environments will be included in the game. Much of the game has been worked on from the ground up to improve aspects such as multiplayer and consistent performance “no matter what platform you’re playing on.”

MultiVersus open beta was a huge success

MultiVersus originally launched in July 2022 as an open beta for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC consoles. The title went on to reach a staggering 10 million players, though that number dwindled after nearly a year when the game was pulled from open beta last June. During this test, MultiVersus worked on concepts that will make their way into the final version, such as the inclusion of new characters and scenarios, as well as the use of seasons and battle passes that will keep the game alive for a long time.
