Payday 3 closed beta for PC and Xbox Series X|S starts next week, here’s how to play

Payday 3 is almost here, but there’s still a closed beta before the full release. Here’s what you need to do to be able to get into it.

Update:
Payday 3 closed beta for PC and Xbox Series X|S starts next week, here’s how to play

Alright ramblers, let’s get rambling: Payday 3 is finally close to launch in September, and after years of waiting for news fans are itching to put on their masks and get some money. But if you want to play even sooner then you’re in luck, as a closed beta test is set to take place next week.

This testing period will take place from August 2 to August 7, and will only be available for players on PC through Steam, and on Xbox Series X|S. This beta will feature only a single heist, “No Rest for the Wicked”, which the developers say is a “representative of classic Payday heists.” Players that are selected to join the beta will also be able to play through the heist as one of four characters, all of whom are part of the original Payday gang: Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf.

What this means is that the devs at Starbreeze Studios and Overkill Software have chosen to show off the quintessential Payday experience: the classic gang in a classic bank vault heist. Expect makeshift drilling, taking out guards, and preparing for a police assault. Or you can try to go stealthily and empty the bank without raising the alarm. Either way players are sure to experience the updated gameplay mechanics that are set to differentiate Payday 3 from its predecessors.

How to get into the Payday 3 beta

If you can’t wait to get your hands on this new heisting game, you can still register for beta access in a few different ways, depending on which platform you wish to play on.

If you’ve got a PC capable of running the game, then you simply need to go to the Payday 3 Steam store page and click on the button to “Request Access” to the Playtest. If you’re chosen to join the test then you’ll be notified through your registered email. When the time comes you’ll get the option to download the beta and start playing right away, as there will be no limit to how many times you can play the heist as long as its during the previously mentioned period.

For players on Xbox Series X|S, the only way to get access is through the Xbox Insider Hub. Just opt into the program, and you’ll have the chance of being randomly selected to join the beta. “We plan to open more space through the beta weekend so if you are unable to join, please check back later to join,” said Microsoft.

“The main purpose of this beta is to test our servers and the stability of the game experience,” said the developers. In it you’ll be able to play every difficulty of the mission and rise up to Infamy Level 22 and Weapon Level Progression 8.

Payday 3 launches September 21 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and PC Game Pass), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
