Solaire returns in Elden Ring Nightreign, bringing nostalgia to Dark Souls fans

Bandai Namco has released a ten-minute overview trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign, breaking down its core gameplay mechanics and progression systems. However, the biggest surprise isn’t the gameplay details: it’s the return of Solaire of Astora.
Yes, some classic Dark Souls characters will appear in Nightreign, but not as NPCs or enemies. Instead, they are cosmetic customization options that players can unlock for their Nightfarers, the game’s playable characters.
How Solaire appears in Elden Ring Nightreign
The trailer reveals several new customization elements, including:
- A shop where players can spend Murk, the in-game currency earned during missions.
- Relics that enhance character abilities.
- Unlockable outfits, including Solaire’s armor, allowing players to cosplay as the iconic sun knight.
Alongside Solaire, other Dark Souls-inspired costumes appear, including Leonhard from Dark Souls III and the Faraam armor set.
Concerns about post-launch support
While Elden Ring Nightreign is shaping up to be a fresh take on the Soulsborne formula, some concerns remain.
Despite its May 30 release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, Bandai Namco has yet to clarify how it will support the game post-launch.
As noted in early impressions, Nightreign feels like a cooperative speedrun experience, blending familiar mechanics from Fromsoftware games, with a new structure. Whether it will receive long-term updates remains to be seen.
