Update:

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the verge of welcoming back the face of their franchise for the past decade: Clayton Kershaw. The future Hall of Famer underwent shoulder surgery during the offseason, and after making three starts in the minors, he’s expected to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation on May 18.

Kershaw recently pitched for Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting a 3.27 ERA over three outings, striking out 10 batters in 11 innings. He allowed 10 hits and issued two walks before wrapping up his rehab assignment and preparing for his much-anticipated return to Major League Baseball in the 2025 season. The last time he took the mound in an MLB game was August 30, 2024, when an injury sidelined him, preventing him from contributing to the Dodgers’ postseason push.

Full confidence in Clayton Kershaw’s pitching

I think Clayton will always want more velocity,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “I believe he’s ramping up the intensity because, when he gets here, he wants to be fully ready. From what I’ve heard, he’s throwing well. Of course, it’s not Major League competition yet, but I know Clayton is doing everything possible so that once he’s back with us, he can be the best pitcher he can be and help us win games,” Roberts added.

Roberts upbeat about Kershaw’s impact

“He’s not just going through the motions or doing things out of obligation,” Roberts said of Kershaw’s mindset. “For me, Clayton can pitch at any velocity. As long as he’s healthy, I’ll always bet on him.”

For the Dodgers, keeping Kershaw in top condition is the priority. His presence in the rotation will be crucial as the team aims to defend its championship from last season, with October baseball already looming on the horizon. The veteran ace’s experience and leadership could make all the difference when the stakes are highest.
