Corbin Carroll ruled out of 2026 World Baseball Classic after hand fracture
The World Baseball Classic is fast approaching; the tournament will take place from March 5, 2026 to March 17, 2026.

The World Baseball Classic is just around the corner. National teams are gearing up with their best talent, and the United States was preparing to field a star‑studded roster loaded with MLB standouts. But Team USA has just suffered its first major setback: Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is officially out.

Carroll underwent surgery on Wednesday after fracturing the hamate bone in his right hand during a spring‑training batting practice session.
The injury not only removes him from the WBC roster but also puts his availability for Opening Day in doubt. Francisco Lindor and Jackson Holliday are dealing with similar hamate issues this spring, adding to the growing list of early‑season concerns.

The loss is a big one. Carroll is coming off a standout season in which he blasted 31 home runs, led the majors with 17 triples, drove in 84 runs, stole 32 bases, and posted an .883 OPS across 143 games—numbers that cemented him as one of MLB’s most dynamic young stars.
Team USA will now have to pivot quickly as it looks to fill the void left by one of the sport’s most electric outfielders.
