The 2024 Caribbean Series was played at Miami’s loanDepot Park, home of the Marlins, and was a huge success, bringing in record crowds and revenue. In the final, the Venezuelan champions Tiburones de la Guaira beat the heavily favored Dominican champions Tigres del Licey.

Held every year, the pan-Caribbean championship of champions rotates among hosting nations and in 2028, the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Liga de Béisbol Profesional de la República Dominicana or LIDOM) holds the hosting rights. Currently, they are in negotiations with the Marlins and the city of Miami to bring the event back to South Florida.

Chema Sánchez, Manager of Business Development for the Marlins, said prior to the 2024 series, “Bringing the Caribbean Series to Miami means a lot to me. More than three decades have passed since that event was last played in Florida and doing it now, in an MLB stadium, demonstrates the great interest we have in carrying out this show.”

The Caribbean Series was a huge commercial success, lessening the chances of other member nations objecting to a return to Florida. In 2023, the event was held in the new baseball stadium in Caracas, Estadio Monumental Simón Bolívar.

The Domincan sports radio program Grandes en los Deportes posted to X, running a poll to find out if there was support for such a move and the response has been almost unanimously positive.
